  • Kahouly Nicolay also known as Nico Sereba is song writer and a musician who hails Holmlia, Oslo but his parents are both from Ivory coast. So it is not wrong to say that Noco Sereba is an Afro-Norwegian.
  • He was born in December 1, 1992. He stayed with his parents in Ivory coast for one year before they finally moved to Oslo, Norway.
  • Prior to his career in the music world, Nico had no passion for music but for soccer. But meeting his new friend and a rapper in 2009, they formed a pair called Envy and developed a goal which was to inspire people to find happiness, and music was just the best vehicle towards achieving such goal. Hence came the agreement to work together in order to tap into the heart of global culture by writing and performing songs that joyfully speak of life, love and identity.
  • Though a Norwegian, Nico prefers to consider himself Afro Norwegian. Perhaps meeting his friend Vincent Dery, whose parents are Ghanaian, helped to boost his interest and ideology about the African continent. Together, they produced music with an Ivory coast and Ghanaian background.

  • Alongside their goal, Nico is engrossed in pursuing the group’s mission of making magic in the studio, dreaming up the most imaginative videos to illustrate the group’s ideas and how to travel the world to share their artistry with everyone.
  • Showing his burning desire for Africa, Nico and his friend named their debut album ‘Black Elephant’ as a sign of homage to their respective fatherland. The ‘Black Star’ came from the  Ghanaian soccer team – ‘Black Star’, while the Elephant represent’s the Ivorian Coat of arm where Nico’s parents come from.
  • Nico and his pair have produced other songs but the song ‘Am I wrong’ brought them higher from where they were before giving them more than 60 million views on YouTube, and over 16 million for its lyric video. To date, the song has a 20x Platinum combined certification in Scandinavia, and almost Double Platinum in the US!
  • Speaking on the song ‘Am I Wrong’, Nico says the album is about following your gut. “It is our hope that people who are asking ‘Should I go the safest way that everybody says I should go, even though my gut says to go where my true happiness lies?’ to be happy…to follow their heart. Nico and his duo have produced other songs like “One Song” released in 2011 and “In Your Arms” released in 2013.
  • The year 2014 seemed to be a memorable one for both Nico and his colleague. In January that year, they changed their name from Envy to ‘Nico & Vinz’ after the international success of “Am I Wrong”. That same year, they both received the European Boarder Breakers Award (EBBA) at Eurosonic Festival, performed at the Spellemann Awards giving them access to spread their message all around European countries. They also launched their ‘Am I wrong’ in American radio debut in April the same year.
