The chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign and Domestic Debt, and Senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, yesterday said he is glad to be suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state last week placed Senator Shehu Sani, an indefinite suspension, after his 11-month suspension elapsed on Tuesday, November 29.
Sani, on his Facebook page yesterday, wrote:
“Since we came to office on May 29, 2015, el-Rufai’s Kaduna APC held eight press conferences and in all, it was the issue of ‘suspending Shehu Sani’ or ‘confirming the suspension of Shehu Sani’ or ‘ratifying the suspension of Shehu Sani’ or ‘affirming the suspension of Shehu Sani’ that were discussed.
“It has ridiculously reached to a point that each time Kaduna journalists are invited by el-Rufai’s Kaduna APC is to write the repeated story of Shehu Sani’s suspension.
“They want him to sleep, snore and fart without noise from Shehu. If my repeated suspension will earn our governor a shirt in the Nigerian or American Basketball team, I’ll be happy.”
Senator Shehu Sani and El-Rufai are both leaders of APC in Kaduna but are political adversaries, whose fracas have created a sharp division in the state chapter of the APC.
Some officials of the party had earlier accused an aide to Governor Nasir El-Rufai of offering them N3 million bribe to suspend a senator.
The APC executives of Ward 6, Kaduna South Local Government Area, who disclosed this at a press conference, accused Uba Sani, Mr. El-Rufai’s political adviser, of offering the bribe to some of their fellow executive members to suspend Senator Shehu Sani.
