“Sack CBN Governor” – Pastor Tunde Bakare Implores Buhari

Nigerian Prophetic-Apostolic pastor, Tunde Bakare, wants the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele to be sacked with immediate effect. The Senior Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, who has received both national and international attention for his Television evangelism, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the national conference report, while commending the President’s war on corruption.

The former pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Church, who also served in the Redeemed Christian Church of God before setting up his own church, Latter Rain Assembly, said that Godwin Emefiele should also be held responsible for improper management of the funds that was meant for purchasing of arms. He argued that the fund was misused due to the fact that the CBN governor approved its release to the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki. Pastor Bakare also said it would be unfair for the former National Security Adviser to be tried in court alone  since he had worked hand in hand with some other people.

“The CBN currently contributes negatively to the Nigerian state in more ways than one. Firstly, the CBN has become a conduit for politicians to drain the nation.

Otherwise, how can a letter of barely two paragraphs, addressed to the current CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, by the then NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), become the authority to incur expenditure leading to cash flow of $37m and several million euro?” Bakare says.

He also added that the CBN governor cannot continue in office while the NSA is accounting for his alleged offences. The very outspoken pastor also spoke about fuel subsidy; he said four years after the issue of subsidy was raised, those indicted persons are yet to be prosecuted, and he wonders why corruption will not be so endemic and pervasive in Nigeria today with the state of government policies and implementation.
