Good News! Rivers State NYSC Members Get 100 Percent Allowance Increment


Members of the National youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Rivers State can now smile to the bank, as their monthly allowance has been increased.

This was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Keneth Kobani. The Rivers Government under governor Nyesom Wike has approved a 100 per cent increase in the monthly allowance of NYSC members deployed to the state.

Mr Kobani stated that the new allowance has been approved by the governor and the scheme takes effect immediately and corps members will receive it soon.


New Allowance Regime takes Effect

In a statement released to press men by Mr Kobani on Monday in Port Harcourt, he revealed that the allowance has been increased from the previous N5,000 to N10,000.

He said.


“The allowances of the corps members have been increased, and Gov. Nyesom Wike has approved the increment.

“I have discussed it with the NYSC State Coordinator. They will get the funds shortly, the governor has approved it.


Regarding the state of facilities at the NYSC Camp in the State, Mr Kobani admitted that the facilities were not necessarily the best, but were good enough. He stated that the State Government will always make effort to improve the facilities.

Mr Kobani urged security agencies to work together with the government in order to ensure that security challenges in the State were dealt with.

He called on the general public to provide information and tip-offs to security agencies, as they were not “magicians” to know what is happening and where, without proper information.

Rivers State now joins the list of States that pay the highest NYSC State Allowance to Corp Members. Others on the list include: leader Akwa Ibom State with N20,000, Lagos State with N15,000 and N10,000, Enugu State with N10,000, and Sokoto State with N9,000.
