Former President Goodluck Jonathan has returned to Nigeria after an alleged self-imposed exile, while on a month’s trip to the United Kingdom and Côte d’Ivoire.
President Goodluck arrived Nigeria on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, before connecting another flight to Port Harcout.
Goodluck later drove to his hometown, Otuoke in Bayelsa State and arrived at about 9pm. according to sources.
The ex-President was received by a crowd of friends and well-wishers at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers state, earlier today when he arrived from his multi-city speaking tour.

Jonathan had earlier dismissed reports making rounds that he was on exile in Cote d’Ivoire sometime last week.
The reports had alleged that Jonathan had been given asylum in Cote d’Ivoire as a shelter from possible arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of corruption and misappropriation of billions of dollars during his term of office.
Jonathan, however, according to reports, had dismissed the rumours, insisting that he was not on self-exile in Cote d’Ivoire as alleged.
“I am not in exile; it is quite unfortunate that anybody is insinuating that I am in exile. I am now a private citizen. Since I left office, this is my second second visit to Cote d’Ivoire.”
