The Nigeria Christians’ Pilgrimage Commission has made provisions for raffle draws to help poor Nigerians who may want to travel on holy pilgrimage to Israel which before now, seemed like a luxury to the poor and a sole concern of the privileged rich Nigerians.
Nigeria Christians’ Pilgrimage Commission, (NCPC) coordinator for the southwest, Senator Ayo Arise, while briefing newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Friday said the raffle draw tagged ‘Win a Trip to Israel’ became imperative following some states who have backed out of sponsorship of holy pilgrimage due to financial crisis rocking the nation.
According to Senator Arise, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Quick Win Lotto, tickets for the raffle draw commences on April 18 in Ado Ekiti , which will cost a sum of N500 and will be available in all branches of United Bank for Africa (UBA) across the zone.
The programme will be prosecuted by Fortune Games Limited under the supervision of the Christians’ Association of Nigeria and Nigerian Lottery Commission. Winners from all the states of the federation will be sponsored by the commission after emerging from a transparent contest.

Disclosing that the Muslims’ Pilgrimage Commission was also working on a similar programme, Arise said the money gathered from the sales of the lottery ticket will be used to sponsor the winners to Israel.
The NCPC coordinator expressed fears that with the way some states are backing out of sponsorship of holy pilgrimage, the commission foresees that only the rich Nigerians could afford sponsorship and this may not serve the interest the programme
was designed to meet.
Recall that the President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration had recently announced decisions to end the federal government’s sponsorship of pilgrims to Israel and Saudi Arabia, encouraging both religious commissions towards self-sustenance, which leaves intending pilgrims to sponsor themselves on the holy trip.
