Police Locks Down Rivers Government House, Prevents Governors From Leaving [PHOTOS]


The ensuing drama trailing the Peoples Democratic Party Convention slated for today Wednesday 17th August 2016 has taken a different turn as Party Governors have been held hostage by the police at the Rivers State Government House.

Earlier today, police troops from the Force Headquarters sealed of the Sharks Stadium, venue of the Convention.

Subsequently, armed policemen also  deployed by the Inspector General of Police  this morning stopped governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who had gathered at the Rivers Government House for an emergency meeting over the stoppage of its national convention, from leaving the premises.

The PDP took to its twitter handle to state that armed security agents blocked the gate of the Rivers State Government House with an armored vehicle and prevented the PDP governors from leaving after their emergency meeting.

The party has also also accused the police of using armoured vehicle to smash into the convoy of Governor Nyesom Wike.
