Pastor Johnson Odesola, Special Assistant to Pastor Adeboye on Administration and Personnel, said at the time that the church’s constitution did not state that anyone above 70 years should not lead the ministry.

He had said:

“Whereas the constitution provided that the deputy and assistant general overseers are appointed to retire at 70 and enjoy their retirement benefits for life, there is no such provision for the general overseer.”

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and a PhD in applied mathematics from the University Of Lagos.

After joining the RCCG in 1973, he began working to translate the sermons of its then Pastor and founder of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God,  Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi.
