Contrary to the opinion of the common man in Nigeria today, Chief Omagbemi Orido, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has said President Muhammadu Buhari will lead the nation to prosperity.
Orido expressed hope that President Buhari would provide a leadership that would bring comfort to Nigerians, adding that the quality of governance in the country had changed since the APC took over the reins of power, with far-reaching policies that would soon begin to yield dividends.
Mr. Omagbemi Orido, a one-time President General, Agbarho Urhobo Progressive Union, Ughelli-North Local Government Area of Delta State, said:
“President Muhammadu Buhari has started well with the anti-corruption war. His body language has revealed that there is no room for corruption in the country.
“We can now have serious, dedicated and selfless people in governance. Nigeria could only get better with Buhari and the APC in charge of the country.”
Meanwhile, in opposition to Orido’s assertion, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) released a statement on Wednesday, August 31, alleging that the present administration led by President Buhari, is destroying Nigeria completely.
The press statement by the opposition party was in reaction to the recently released economic indices released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) which showed several negative indices and shrinking growth in the economy through the first half of the year.
Citing the negative GDP, inflation and unemployment figures released by the NBS, Director, New Media of the PDP, Deji Adeyanju, who made the statement available to newsmen, stated that the statistics were a clear showcase of the incompetence of the Buhari-led government.
The PDP ceased the opportunity to sell their achievement and claimed the economy had performed better in the last administration, going by the statistics released. As a result, the party urged Nigerians to call for Buhari’s resignation as it is of the opinion that he is obviously unable to reverse the disastrous economic decline he has brought upon the nation.
