Okonjo-Iweala’s Response To Governor Oshiomole’s Suggestion To Buhari

Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has lashed out on the Buhari-led Government asking them to call Governor Adams Oshiomole to order over his comments about her. She stated this while replying what Oshiomole’s had said in an interview with Leadership newspapers published today where he suggested that the former Minister should be prosecuted in connection with the $2.1 billion arms deal fraud.

The ex-minister’s reaction was contained in a statement signed by her media aide, Paul Nwabuikwu requesting that the Buhari-led government should caution the Edo state Governor for his recent plot to connect her reputation to the reported $2.1 billion arms issue.

According to Media Adviser to Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, Paul Nwabuikwu, the ex minister has emphatically made it clear that she has no connection with the recent fraud case about Arms deal.

She also noted that the behavior of the governor, who is hiding behind the constitutional immunity granted to state governors abused the judicial process, public office, and her human rights. She also revealed that while in office, she denied Governor Oshiomhole’s request to take a greatly suspicious N15 billion loan. She said it is uncalled for the Governor to accuse her falsely because she frustrated his suspicious loan request.

As recently confirmed by the Debt Management Office, professional analysis showed that Oshiomhole’s loan request which was based on using low-interest World Bank loan to offset high interest commercial loans would have left Edo state with a heavy debt burden which the state would have found very difficult to pay back.

She defined the Governor’s unverified accusations as a cynical personalization of the anti-corruption movement to achieve unworthy objectives.

Dr Okonjo-Iweala further informed Oshiomhole of her readiness to go through legal process stating that she has briefed her lawyers and that she is ready to go through all legal means, local and international, to defend her reputation as a person who isn’t corrupt and can’t be compromised.

It seems Governor Oshiomole tries to dent Dr. Ngozi OKonjo-Iweala reputation locally with deviously cunning plans of blackening her reputation each time she receives international recognition. Here is why one might think so, Dr Okonjo-Iweala was honored at a high-profile event that featured Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton just last night. Dr Okonjo Iweala was honored alongside Michael Bloomberg, Bill and Melinda Gates and Mo Ibrahim, for the role they played in global development and humanity.

Paul Nwabuikwu added that Gov. Oshiomole and his cohorts need to embrace the fact that their ill-motivated attempts to taint Dr Okonjo Iweala’s reputation will never succeed!
