Peter Okoye

Peter Okoye is the twin brother of Paul Okoye, the biological twins that make up the Psquare. He is a Nigerian born on November 18th, 1981 in Anambra state, Nigeria.

Peter is is known to be the dance head of the Psquare group because he is an infinitely better dancer than his twin. However, Paul on his own sings like a hummingbird.

P-Square (Peter and Paul Okoye)

The duo started their music career at St. Murumba secondary school, Jos, Nigeria. It was at the school’s music and drama group that their passion for music and dancing were developed.

While in the high school, they began singing, dancing, and mimicking songs by MC Hammer, Bobby Brown and Michael Jackson.
The two brothers later formed a cappella quartet called “MMMPP” (M Clef a.k.a. Itemoh, Michael, Melvin, Peter and Paul).

As time goes on, they began break dancing, drawing inspiration from their music idol Michael Jackson. In 1997, they formed the first group called Smooth criminals and they performed at different shows within the Jos while they were in the high school.

In 1999, P-square returned to music school to develop their skills on keyboard, drums, bass and rhythm guitar.

In 2001, P-Square won the Grab Da Mic competition. This achievement prompted Benson & Hedges to sponsor their debut album, titled Last Nite, which was released under Timbuk2 music label.

In 2005, P Square dropped their second album, Get Squared under their own label, Square Records.

In 2007, P-square released Game Over, which has been one of their best-selling albums.

In 2009, the twins dropped their fourth studio album, Danger- featuring 2 Face Idibia, J Martins and Frenzy.

On April 4 2010, at the Kora Awards in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso, P-square was the Artist of the Year.

On 14 September 2014, the R&B singers dropped their 6th studio album captioned Double Trouble.

The R&B identical singers signed a record deal with KonvictMuzik (Akon’s label). In 2012, P-square signed a record distribution deal with South African label- Universal Music.

In March, P-square’s manager, who doubles as their elder brother announced that he will no longer manage their music. Jude Okoye’s decision brought to an end his 10 years managerial relationship with his younger brothers.

P-Square Split

In 2016, Paul and Paul went on different ways after it emerged that their elder brother, Jude Okoye was the man behind their problems.

It was not the first time there were speculations of split between the singers but it was first time they watched their washed their dirty linen in public.

Following the spat, P-square unveiled his new manager and changed his name to ‘Mr-P’. Peter Okoye was also spotted at shows alone. He later dropped a single titled ‘Look into My Eyes’.

On the other hand, Paul Okoye had the support of his elder brother while the fight lasted.

But the duo, including Jude reconciled after 5 weeks of public spat. The trio confirmed the good news on their respective Instagram pages.

P-Square Wedding

Peter Okoye got married to Lola Omotayo on Sunday, November 17, 2013, after the couple had dated for eight years.

Lola OmotayoOkoyeis the daughter of a Russian mother and Nigerian father. She is older than her husband. She got wedded in a lavish Lekki ceremony November 17, 2013. The couple had their court wedding on January 27, 2015.

She is also the mother of Peter’s children Cameron and Aliona. Lola Omotayo studied theatre arts at San Francisco University.

On March 22, 2015, Paul Okoye got married to Anita Isama, a lawyer, in Port Harcourt. Their court wedding took place on January 2015 in Ikoyi, Lagos State. Their son Andre was born 11 April 2013 in United States.
