Nkiru Sylvanus

Nkiru Sylvanus is a sultry Nigerian actress who came to limelight in 2000 after she played the role of ‘Blessing’ in the movie “Cry For Help”. According to the actress, (born in Osisioma, Aba, Abia State), the income for the first movie she acted was less than 5$.

The way she passed before winning the public’s attention was really hard. The actress does really good playing the emotional heroines. Nkiru got into the stream of Nollywood and acted in such films as Secret Pain, No More Love, Life Bullet, Final Tussle, Divided Heart and Divided Attention.

In the middle of her acting career, Nkiru Sylvanus disappeared from the movie scene when she hooked a political appointment as a Special Assistant to Owelle Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo State.


Nkiru attended Ohabiam Primary School and Ohabiam Secondary School in Aba for her primary and secondary education. She went on to study Mass Communication at Enugu State University of Science and Technology.


Nollywood sweetheart, Nkiru Sylvanus, has been trailed with so many controversies over the span of her career with most of them bordering on her marital status. On three occasions, it had been rumored that she got married secretly.

So frequent have the reports been that an account actually claimed that Nkiru was so desperate to get married that she settled to become the second wife to a prominent northerner.

Miss Nkiru Sylvanus was however, unperturbed about the many rumours that trailed her marital status. On a certain occasion she said:

“Controversy is part of life. If nobody talks about you, then you don’t exist. So, it is good when people talk about you. It helps you to shape up your life, it makes you to work harder to surprise people the more and make them understand that it is not really about what they think; it’s about who you are and who you want to be.”

Nkiru went on to send a message to those who can’t wait to see her change her last name saying that she would get married when the time comes. She also urged her fans to keep calm on issues that border on her private life. “I will settle down whenever it comes, it is a thing of the mind, so when you think your mind is ready to settle down, you will. For me, it could be now, it could be tomorrow, next year or next five years”, she said.

It was also widely spread that Nkiru Sylvanus was in a romantic relationship with Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, but she denied it.

I Don’t Mind Being A Second Wife

While speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise sometime in July, 2o14, Nkiru Syvanus said she can be a second wife if the situation is right. Hear her: “If the situation and the person is good I would go for it”.

Defending her stance, she said:  “I speak my mind. I talk about what people know, but pretend like they don’t know. If our society has to change like we’ve been clamoring for, then we must be ready to be truthful and realistic. In the real sense of it, who isn’t a second wife or second husband? The truth is that every young man or woman out there who isn’t a virgin, has been married before.”

Nkiru’s Kidnap Saga 

Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped in Owerri on December 16, 2012, but was eventually released after the sum of N8 million was reportedly paid as ransom.
