Ice Prince

Born as Panshak Zamani, Ice Prince is a Nigerian hip hop sensation who has amassed quite a huge number of followers and very devoted fans in Nigeria and all over the world.

Before the release of his hit song Oleku, Ice Prince was one of the many obscure faces of Nigerian music artistes who work hard on songs daily while waiting to hit the super star mark.

The song Oleku is one of Nigeria’s most remixed songs of all time. In Ice Prince’s case, Oleku launched him into major spotlight and practically made him a household name.

Early Life

Ice Prince was born Panshak Henri Zamani at Minna, the capital city of Niger state in Northern Nigeria on the 23 October 1986. While he was still at the tender age of two, his family relocated to the city of Jos in plateau state where he had his primary and secondary education at St. Murumba College and later on at the Science Tutorial College in Jos.

Losing his dad in 1999, Ice Prince became completely dependent on his mom for all his needs until she died too.

He got admitted into the university of Jos to study zoology but had to drop out in his first year due to lack of funds since his mom had died too. In his own words however, he said he had dropped out of school to give better attention to his music. To actualize that, he relocated to Abuja and moved in with his dear friend M.I and Jesse Jagz.

Ice Prince’s Music Career and Rise To Fame

While he was still in secondary school in 1999, Ice Prince started composing Rap songs and performing them at social events held at his school and sometimes outside the school. He kept at it and was upgrading on the way until 2001 when he finally started going to the studio to record.

When recording started going well, Ice Prince got together with some of his friends and formed a singing and performing group which they named the “Ecomog Squad”. The group went steady and performed quite well together for a while until personal issues cropped in and made the group split one year later.

After his split with the Ekomog, he joined his church choir and decided to turn his talent to a better use for God. He kept at it until he met M.I after his return from the US. The two became fast friends and started making music together. He eventually gained some attention in Jos after one of his songs made it to the number one hit song in the city.
