The ex-husband of the popular American Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige has demanded a huge amount of money as spousal support following the couples divorce proceedings.
According to TMZ, Blige’s ex-husband, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs has demanded the singer to deposit the sum $129,319 as temporary spousal support every month, including paying his lawyer’s service fees.
It was reported that Mr. Isaacs made his demand on September 14 after the couple ended their 12 years of marriage. Mary J had filed for the divorce in July, citing irreconcilable differences and specifically requested her ex-husband be denied spousal support.
The source also said the 45-year old singer had played the role of the breadwinner of the family and Martin, who use to be MJB career Manager, had allegedly signed a prenuptial agreement before they got married in 2003. They had no children together, but the ex has three kids before their marriage.
Mary J’s ex-hubby/manager filed the demand based on the fact that he’s unemployed and the amount is only fair for him to maintain the kind of lifestyle he’s accustomed to.
As her manager, Martin knows MJ’s music career hauls in millions of dollar plus he said she earned not less than $1.5 to $5.1 million over the last 2 years and is currently on tour with an upcoming album.
The case is still in court while bets are on whether a Judge will rule in favour of Martin considering he claimed that the prenup is void since it was signed in the absence of his lawyer.
Besides music, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul is also a model, record producer and actress; a recipient of nine Grammy Awards, in addition to receiving a record of thirty Grammy nominations. In 2013, MJ sold more than 50 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide and Billboard magazine ranked her as the most successful female R&B artist of the past 25 years.
