This is one of the most bizarre incidents reported by a Twitter user, Doug Criss about a woman who had a live cockroach removed from her skull with a suction machine.

According to the story, the 42-year old Indian woman who lives in a village outside of Chennai, suddenly woke up late at night to a painful itchy, scratchy feeling in the head which was obviously abnormal. She paid a visit to a Stanley Medical College where she complained of a severe headache and difficulty in breathing.

An endoscopy examination conducted by a doctor to determine the source of her pain was able to identify a body part belonging to an insect. But the doctor wasn’t sure yet until they pulled a live cockroach out.

The Professor and Head of the Ear, Nose, Throat Department at Stanley Medical College, M.N. Shankar, who was interviewed by CNN confirmed the mysterious incident. He said:

“We didn’t know what it was. We didn’t know whether it was a wasp or some other insect. Slowly, we had to pull it out.”

Below is a video of the procedure showing the moment when the cockroach was removed from the woman’s skull.

The video clearly showed that the doctor pulled out the pest (live cockroach) using suction machines and forceps after probing for almost an hour. The size of the live creature is about an inch long and had been in the woman’s body for about 12 hours.

But the big question is, how did the cockroach manage to crawl into the woman’s skull? Here’s what Professor Shankar said:

“The cockroach had burrowed into the roof of the nose, almost near the skull base, which is the dividing point between the brain and the nose. It was quite unusual.”

In the doctor’s opinion, the insect posed a potential danger to the patient. According to the professor, if the creature had died in the woman’s head, it might cause an infection which, if it spread through the body, would have been fatal.

Physicians at the hospital also confessed they have removed worms and flies from people, but nothing like this was recorded as far as they can remember.

Not that people don’t suffer ordeals more bizarre than this, such as that of a woman who got infected with some form of parasites discovered under her skin. The story narrated by a Twitter user said the girl had a one-night-stand with some dude she met on a first date.

Some days after, she noticed rashes on her face and chest were the man spilt semen. On her visit to a dermatologist who discovered parasite under the rashes, she was told that it wasn’t STD, rather such can be gotten from the semen of a man who either sleeps with animals or with corpses.
