John Fashanu To Build Sports Academy In Numatville, Abuja


Former Nigerian English international, and Sports Billionare Legend John Fashanu, has been given 400 plots of land worth N800 Million to build his world class Sports Academy in the Numatville Megacity, Abuja by the Chairman of the Nigerian Unity Museum and Trade Tourism Cultural investment village, Numatville, Hon Dr Akin Olowookere.

Fashanu intends to establish a world-class Sports Academy to empower youths, aimed at discovering champions who will contest locally within each state in Nigeria and winners represent Nigeria for our traditional sports competition in the Olympics and Europe at Large.

The Annual National Unity Traditional Sports and Tourism Festival was also established, of which Ambassador John Fashanu is appointed Chairman of the National Organizing  Committee.

Numatville Project Development manager, Hon. Jonathan Daniel, has also been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant on Social Media and Public Relations Affairs to the Sports Chairman, Ambassador John Fashanu.

The Nigerian Unity Museum & Trade Tourism Village (Numatville) is a special site an hour drive from Abuja with the vision to showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage and to become Africa’s first and largest national tourism and cultural megacity. The initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Abuja.

Last month, Numatville endorsed John Fashanu and multiple award-winning Media Personality, Rachel Bakam as its ambassadors.

John Fashanu is known for his many achievements in the sports of football and contribution to sports in general. As a striker he scored over 300 goals in a career-lasting 17 years (1978 to 1995) where he played for several English clubs including Norwich City, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

He is mostly remembered during his eight-year spell at Wimbledon F.C. where he won the FA Cup in 1988 and scored over 100 goals in all competitions. He was also capped twice at senior level by England. He is also a successful television presenter.

In 2009, Fashanu was listed amongst Great Britain’s most influential people along with other prominent persons like Richard Branson and Prince Charles.
