The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Tuesday claimed a that the Federal Government, through the Department of State Services (DSS), has made a fresh conspiracy to terminate the life of the detained leader of the group, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.
The pro-Biafra group in a statement issued on March 8, by its head of media and publicity, Comrade Emma Powerful, said that it was no longer safe for their leader to be attending court hearings based on the unverified fact that the DSS had brought to a conclusion plans to kill Kanu through arranged motor accident on his way to court.
IPOB said that its decision to raise the alarm was consequent to the discovery made by the intelligence unit of the group who alleged that the Federal Government security agency came up with the theory that IPOB wanted to snatch their leader on his way to court in order to create a distraction that will enable them carry out their arrangements of wasting Kanu’s life through an organised accident without raising any questions.
Mr. Emma Powerful who made the allegation on behalf of the group said:
The plan was perfected by the DSS and the FG to be executed by the prison authorities. The IPOB intelligence were on the course and discovered why DSS accused the family of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB family of planing to kidnap the director of Radio Biafra on his way to the Federal High Court.
The IPOB worldwide family are calling on the International community, Amnesty International and all relevant human right organizations to take note and caution the FG and DSS; if anything happens to the leader of IPOB, we will not take it easy.
For this reason, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will not go to court again because his life is in danger, until adequate security is assured for his life. They want to claim that there was criminal attack on his way to the court.
Nnamdi Kanu, the radio Biafra Director who has been detained since October 14, 2015, is standing trial for felony, illegal possession of firearms and assisting in the management of an unlawful society alongside two others. Kanu, who is based in United Kingdom was arrested by operatives of DSS as soon as he arrived Nigeria.
