Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu is presently in Gbaramatu community in Delta State on a mission to meet with representatives of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).
According to reports, Dr Kachikwu is in the community to also see how work on the stalled Maritime University project can be revived.
A few days back, Dr Kachikwu, had stated in a Town Hall meeting organised for people of the South-South in Akwa-Ibom state, that the University will be completed no matter how much it costs.
The Minister had also disagreed with fellow minister-colleague, Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on other issues concerning the Niger Delta region.
Dr Ibe Kachikwu also mentioned that he supports calls for the region that produces the crude oil for the country, to be developed.
Some Niger Delta groups have showered praises on Dr Kachikwu referring to him as a true son of the Niger-Delta.
Ibe Kachikwu A “Minister” – Reno Omokri
A former new media aide to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, also applauded Dr Kachikwu in a tweet.
Reno Omokri said,
“Ibe Kachikwu taught us the difference between A MINISTER and a ME-nister. A, ministers to Nigerians while a ME-nister ministers to his ego!”
The former new media aide, took a swipe at the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi over his comments on the establishment of the Maritime University in the Niger-Delta.
“Amaechi must realize that he wasn’t sent to the Niger Delta by President Buhari. Rather, he was sent by the Niger Delta to President Buhari.”
“Amaechi has this all wrong. He will serve Buhari better by explaining the Niger Delta to him than by explaining Buhari to the Niger Delta.”
The former aide to former ex President Goodluck Jonathan also threw a major shade at President Buhari.
He alleged that the Federal Government has been more active since the President went to London on vacation.
