Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has just signed a mouth watering multi-million Naira record deal with Musical power house Sony BMG Music in New York.

The HKN boss signed the deal in the presence of his manager, Kamal Ajiboye and elder brother, Adewale Adeleke in New York.

This record deal is the first of it’s kind in decades and provides Davido a huge machine in Sony Music, which will help him create, distribute and market his music at a world class level ahead of his second studio album.

For more than a week now, Davido has been talking about the announcement of a huge deal which would change his life forever. This morning, he talked about one million dollars, asking fans if they have ever held a million dollars.

HE is quoted to have said these on his Twitter and Instagram accounts;

Details of the new deal is yet to be made public, but sources reveal it’s a mouth watering deal worth the sum of $1million.

The global music giant has however kept mute about the much-publicized global record deal with Nigeria’s Davido.

Present at the signing were Davido, his elder brother Adewale Adeleke, American Music Executive Efe Ogbeni (Grace, Red One), Davido’s manager Kamal Ajiboye, Joel Katz (Number-One-ranked entertainment attorney) and Adam Granite (VP of Sony Music International).

Sony Music Entertainment has more than 200 artistes under its tutelage including Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Jamie Foxx and several other music stars. Davido becomes the first African artist to be signed under Sony Music Global.

This may just be the major game changer and platform for Nigeria and Afrobeat music as it may now have a TRUE opportunity to make a mark in the global music space. The expansion of Nigerian music has been massive, and the growth, exponential within the past decade.

Signing a deal with an international music company shows the degree of talent an artist possesses and the business potential that exists with exporting that talent to a wider audience.
