While pastors encourage their members to honour God with their tithes and offerings, Comedian Gordons says otherwise.
According to Gordons, religion is a problem cause factor in Nigeria.
In his latest comedy collection called ‘Comedy Clinic,’ he blamed the country’s problems on religion, stating that “the only solution to our problems in Nigeria today is religion,” he said.
The comedian called on the Federal Government to place a ban on tithes and offerings, adding that this would reduce the number of fake pastors who enrich themselves by the offerings and tithes of their congregation.
“I will be the happiest person in the world if the Federal Government place a ban on giving of tithes and offerings from churches.
“I tell you, we will continue to lament as long as these people keep collecting the little one we have in the name of offering.
“By the time tithes and offerings is declared illegal, then we will know those who were called by God and those who called themselves in the ministry. I tell you, some people actually saw miss call and not calling into church ministry,” he added.
Gordons, AKA Godwin Komone came into the entertainment industry as a gospel singer in the acapella defunct group ‘DC Envoy.’
After years of performing in different gospel concerts with his two other group mates, Gordons gradually started tilting towards comedy and is well-known as a gospel comedian, even though he performs in and anchors secular events.
The above statement could have been said as a joke or is a true reflection of what the comedian thinks. Whatever the case is, several religious issues of concern have been in the news for a while now in Nigeria.
What do you think? Is it religion that is the problem, or its diversity?
