Tinsel star, Gideon Okeke has dragged the attention of Nollywood lovers to himself when he commented on the vulgarity of veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu.
Social media users escalated the matter after Gideon Okeke took to Instagram to write about his senior colleague. “You know him as the wicked uncle in films, but I need to check the sanity of my ears and mind whenever he comes on screen…” he wrote.
In Gideon’s opinion, the Chiwetalu’s massive use of vulgar words may have an adverse effect on younger generations. However, after so many cyber attacks, Gideon deleted the post.
Just like most fans of Mr. Agu, Nollywood actress, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha did not take it lightly with Gideon. She shared her disappointment about his comment in an Instagram post, describing him as someone who lacks morals.
“I DO NOT like to see or hear small children disrespect elders ( whether by age or craft ) all in the name of social media.
“How dare you insult an older talent on social media all in the bid to sound intelligent and all-knowing?
HOW DARE YOU ???! You really think what you have done is right? If You have a problem with how an actor delivers his craft, take it up with the regulatory bodies as you want to be “TOUGH”.
“Come to think of it, WHY SHOULD YOU EVEN HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WAY AN ACTOR CHOOSES TO DELIVER? As in? I’m short of words. This is not even about support but morals, something our new generation lacks as well as actors.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Chewetalu Agu reacted to the comment saying:
“Let him leave the censors board to do their job, or does he work with them? Anybody can say anything or come to whatever conclusion they please. The viewers would judge whether I use vulgar words in movies or not.
“People who watch movies are the ultimate judges. I do not even know who Gideon Okeke is; I do not think I have ever heard his name. If people like AMAA are talking to me about this, I would know how to react appropriately.
“But this is an individual I do not even know. He has his own style, and I have mine which has won me awards all over the continent and even beyond.”
Chiwetalu says this would be the first time anyone is accusing him of vulgarity because all he gets are praises for his creative acting and superb delivery.
