Mark Zuckerberg Visits Aso Rock, Meets President Buhari and Others


Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo today Friday, September 2, 2016, at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Mark Zuckerberg ‘Nicodemusly’ came into Nigeria, on Tuesday, September 30, 2016. His first stop was  in Sabo Yaba, Lagos where he had a session with tech gurus.

He proceeded to Kenya for a brief meeting but returned to Nigeria today for a meeting with the presidency.

While details of the meeting with the president are not yet known, the facebook founder was seen showing the President a drone named –Aquila – a solar-powered aircraft that will beam internet connectivity to places that don’t have it.

Zuckerberg also met with the finalists of the first Aso Villa Demo Day (AVDD)2016, speaking to the startups about their ideas.

“I am excited to be here. To the participants, I am blown away by what you are doing, I believe in you, Congrats to you all,” Zuckerberg said.

The word about his visit was first made public by Bashir Ahmed, personal assistant to the president on new media as he disclosed this via Twitter.

“The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg visits the Presidential Villa, Abuja and meets with President Buhari and VP Prof. Yemi Osinbajo,” he tweeted.

The 32-year old billionaire whose loves to impact the world with his technological ideas and wealth created from it, also had a 4-minute meeting with Gaius, a young Nigerian with an aim to meet in person all of his 5,000 friends on Facebook. We hope that Zuckerberg’s visit to Nigeria will be of benefit not just to the social sphere of the country, but also to the economic status as well.
