FA Fines Chelsea And Manchester City £100,000 and £35,000
Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City have been fined by the FA for failing to control their players during an ill-tempered clash at the Etihad Stadium on December 3.
Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Chelsea was fined £100,000 and Manchester City were fined £35,000 after both admitted a breach of FA Rule E20(a).
The two clubs were charged for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.
The incident occurred after Chelsea players were involved in a fight with their opponents following a tackle on David Luiz by Sergio Aguero.
This happened in the 95th minute of Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Manchester City.
Several unsavoury scenes happened at the end of Manchester City’s 3-1 home defeat against Chelsea.
FA Fines Chelsea And Man City For Unruly Behaviour
The brawl led to Aguero being sent off, with his City teammate Fernandinho subsequently dismissed for an altercation with Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Chelsea have previously been charged and fined with a breach of the FA E20 Rule covering the behaviour of players on five separate occasions.
The most recent incident before the one at the Etihad came at the end of last season.
That was when the Blues players became involved in a brawl with those of rivals Tottenham.
That led to fears Antonio Conte’s side could be docked points.
However, as was predicted on Monday by some pundits, those fears were not realised.
This weekend, Chelsea will be up against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Manchester City will take on Arsenal on Sunday at 3:30pm GMT.
