As unexpected as it seemed, Don Jazzy is a wise investor and Iyanya is already an A-list artiste so, the business deal is mutual and fair.
A few months back, the pop star singer left his Triple MG management due to some unknown business mishap between him and the label boss, Ubi Franklin.
Thereafter, Iyanya shared his plans to release an album in June, but since then he had been on low-key, probably trying to understand how to manage himself, or how to get signed to Mavin Records.
The good news of the new deal was first announced by Don himself at about 7. 30 am on Monday 31st October.
saying “The SUPREME MAVIN DYNASTY is pleased to [email protected] to the ever-growing Mavin Family. Pls join us to welcome him and let the world know that we#Up2Sumting. #MavinActivated.”
The deal which has been sealed, signals a new turn for the singer who has spent the past 6 years running his record label with Ubi Franklin.
Before his rise to stardom, the 2008 MTN Project Fame Winner used to run a Karaoke bar in Calabar, Mayfair Lounge. Under his previous label, he released three albums including “My Story,” (2009), “Iyanya Vs Desire,” (2013) and “Applaudise,” (2015) and his most popular song remains the famous Kukere,
Iyanya was working on returning to his R&B roots before the split with Ubi. He also planned a collaborative R&B album with EME singer, Banky W and so far released two singles, ‘Type of woman’ and ‘Heart beat’ from the project.
Iyanya has already recorded his first work from the stables of Mavin Records. It’s titled ‘Up 2 sumtin’ and features Don Jazzy and Dr. Sid.
