Buhari, Queen Elizabeth And Others To Attend Ooni of Ife’s Coronation On Dec. 7th


President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representative Yakubu Dogara, a representative of the Queen of England, the 36 state governors and other top members of the society are among the guests who are expected to be present at the coronation & presentation of Staff of Office to the 51st Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

The monarch’s elder brother, Prince Adegboyega while speaking in a pre-coronation briefing at the palace yesterday November 30th revealed that these high-profiled people including the state governors, members of the National Assembly and other dignitaries had already received invites. The Chairman, Publicity Committee, Biyi Odunlade, announced that December 7th which is the day of the Installation has been declared a public holiday to let the people participate in the ceremony. Here is a run down of the activities that will take place within the week and next week until the final day of the event.

The line up of events will feature a coronation carnival today while tomorrow will be artistes’ coronation day. Then Thursday will be the traditional worshipers’ day. A Jumat service will take place on Friday as well as a youth carnival and a fashion parade .

A football match between Ajiroba FC and Shooting Stars of Ibadan will hold on Saturday. An interdenominational service at Enuwa Square and inauguration of Ife Resorts is scheduled for Sunday. And the grand finale is on Monday when the presentation of staff of office will take place proper.

Finally on December 13, the programme will be  wrapped up with a thanksgiving service at St. Saviour Anglican Church, Ayegbaju, Ile-Ife.”
