The Nigerian Army had on Sunday said its troops in Borno caught and killed a notorious member of the extremist Boko Haram sect as well as two other members known for terrorizing remote communities in the North-east state.
According to the Army spokesperson, colonel Sani Usman, the suspected terrorists were killed by personnel on ‘fighting’ patrol.
As part of their determined efforts to rid the society of all known Boko Haram terrorists enclaves and hideouts, troops of 25 Task Force Brigade based on tip off, conducted a fighting patrol along Damboa-Njaba-Bale road in Borno State.
The troops encountered and killed three suspected Boko Haram terrorists that had been terrorizing the communities around Sabon Gari and Damboa.
Colonel Usman went further to give out the list of the terrorists killed by the Nigerian Army. They include the Boko Haram terrorists Ameer (Leader) in Bulayaga, known for terrorizing Bale, Wass and Mufurundi villages.
The troops were also said to have recovered an AK-47 rifle with its magazine, 43 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, 1 Grinding Machine and 5 Dane Guns. Other items recovered include 7 Motorcycles, 21 bags of grains and 2 Boko Haram terrorists flags hoisted.
In the same hand, Colonel Usman noted that the Nigerian troops at the 7 Division Garrison on patrol at Mainari village in Mafa Local Government Area had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists which led to the killing of 9 terrorists and the recovery of weapons which includes 4 AK-47 and 1 Pump Action Gun.
”The patrol teams have continued to dominate the respective areas.” He said.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army still urges members of the public that have any credible information on any of the wanted terrorists listed on the poster that was launched in October, to call any of the phone numbers printed on the posters. Colonel Usman assured Nigerians that the information given would be treated discreetly and professionally.
