Nigerian R&B singer, Banky W, after the release of his last album in 2013, is ready to do it again for the fifth time. In his words, the singer says his new album will be “dope” and waters the anticipation of his fans, urging them to expect something spectacular. The Empire Mates Entertainment boss plans to drop his upcoming 5th studio album between the second and third quarter of 2016.
Although he didn’t mention for sure which name he has chosen for the album, Banky made a statement that suggests two possible names. During his interview with Hip T.V. he said,
“My album is going to be called “Songs About You. Either “Songs About You” or “Songs About You and Me.” It should be out second or third quarter this year, and it is going to be dope! So please stay tuned for it.”
With four successful albums already released, Banky W is set to take the Nigerian music industry into another wonderful experience. The Strong Thing singer first came into the entertainment scene when he did the remix of Rihanna’s umbrella in 2008.
In 2003, he released the EP Undeniable. The EP was released on his own label and was sold on the internet and out of the trunks of cars. It became one of the top-selling independent records and led him to win the 2003 R&B/Soul Artist of the Year at the Urban Independent Music Awards.
His first Studio Album Back in the Building was released in 2005 and had songs like “My Regret.” Next was Mr. Capable in 2008 which was released when he moved to Nigeria. This was the work that brought him more fame, fans, and friends. The 16-track album, The W Experience dropped in December 2009, followed by R&BW in 2013.
Banky W is not just a successful musician but has produced one also. Popular Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Wizkid was a product of Banky W’s E.M.E Entertainment until he moved to his own label – Star Boy Music.
