An American rapper/singer, Azealia Banks has silenced the President of the United States, Barack Obama, following his speech addressing the death of three men shot by United States police officers in Baton Rouge.
Aside music, Banks is known for her outspoken views which have attracted some media controversies throughout her career. Just when we thought Azealia Banks was turning over a new leaf, the loud mouth of hip hop, like she is usually referred to, is back to shading people on social media.
It all started on Sunday, July 17, 2016, after news broke that about eight United States police officers were shot in Baton Rouge, with three already dead. Barack Obama addressed the nation, calling the shooters ‘cowards.’ He said:
“There is no justification for violence against law enforcement. None. These attacks are the work of cowards who speak for no one. They right no wrongs. They advance no causes.”
Azealia did not take the speech lightly. She lashed out at Obama telling him to shut the fuck up and accused the president of making black people look bad.
“No Obama. You are wrong. Just because you are afraid of seeming too in line or in support of black interests doesn’t mean you get to keep spitting in our fucking faces like this. I completely understand that you will be killed by the white supremacy, if you were to stand on the side of black people but saying shit like this is making it worse. For all of us.“
25-year old, Azealia Banks was raised in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City and started releasing her songs through MySpace in 2008. She was later signed to XL Recordings at age 17 and released her debut single “212.”
In May this year, she had a media rant with pop singer, Zayn Malik, after which she apologized to her fans for her misconduct. She went ahead in the same month to attract a big fight with Rihanna on twitter when she called the ‘Work Work Work’ singer a slut.
Now she has extended how bad mouth to President Obama, although her comment has been deleted on Instagram. How bold can she be?
