Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has expressed delight over his recent appointment as Ambassador of the Nigeria House in the forthcoming Rio Olympics in Brazil.
He will be joining a few other prominent Nigerians in the Nigeria House Business Investment Summit Group to Sau Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil ahead of the 2016 Olympics.
The Former Vice President received members of the Nigeria House Business, Investment Summit Group at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja expressed his delight and said he was happy to have been found worthy of the new role.
Atiku Urges Faith In Nigeria
Atiku described the Rio Olympics as another major opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s potentials to the world.
“We must realize that every nation has its own challenges and as the time we are going to Brazil the country is facing its worst recession in its life but it has not stopped Brazil from staging the Olympics.”
Alhaji Atiku also took the occasion to charge the committee members led by its chairman, Mohammed Abdullahi to ensure that the nation is portrayed as much as possible as a preferred destination for investment.
The former vice president added that Nigerians should be optimistic about the future of the country and never write her off. He affirmed his faith in the country, with the belief that Nigeria in the next foreseeable future will be the envy of not just Africa but the entire world.
Among the dignitaries accompanying the newly appointed ambassador, Atiku to the Nigerian House Business Investment Group include the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung as well as the chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun.
