After weeks of battling with other contestants, Arese wins the first ever The Voice Nigeria.
The stage actress and singer, born as Agharese Emokpae and popular by her stage name A’rese, was announced the winner of the premier edition of the music reality show on Sunday 31st July 2016, beating her colleagues to the star prize of a recording contract, an SUV worth N7 million and a 4-night gateway to Dubai.
The talented 28-year-old, who was mentored by Waje made it into the finals alongside Chike (Team Patoranking), Cornel (Team Timi) and Brenda (Team 2baba), who all gave an amazing performance all through the show and at the Grand Finale.
The last show was one of a kind with each finalist doing a duet with their mentor. After that came the individual performances by the four contestants and atlas Chike came second, Cornel and Brenda took third and fourth while Arese went home with the trophy.
Arese won the audience and fans over with her charismatic and soulful renditions of Aretha Franklin’s Think and Hallelujah by Alexandra Burke. A graduate of the Washington and Lee University, Arese has a six-year experience in stage and that made her stand out from her contemporaries all through the show.
Before her rise to The Voice, she has featured in a number of musicals and theatre productions both in Nigeria and the United States. During her blind audition, A’rese got three turns from the judges with her rendition of Adele’s ‘Skyfall.’
