Another product of a music talent show, Aramide is one of the fastest growing Nigerian singers in recent times that Nigerian music lovers are paying attention to.
The guitar-loving, jazz and soul singer was first seen on the platform of Star Quest reality TV show in 2006, and since then Aramide has been working hard on her skills even though she may not be among the most popular celebs.
The Jos-bred singer gained prominence with her single, ‘It’s Over’, released on Eldee‘s once active Trybe Records label in 2012. The other singles like ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘Iwo Nikan’, and ‘Love Me’ followed, which so far have shown the singer’s maturity in crafting rich, soulful jazz sounds.
From her soon-to-be-released debut album, Aramide released her new single, ‘Funmi Lowo‘ ft Sir Dauda, a song that imitates, but in my opinion is a better version of Rihanna‘s ‘Bitch Better Have My Money.’
Aramide went against proven acts considered to be heavyweights. Many people did not consider her a strong contender for the award, but like the tagline of the year’s award show says, the script got flipped.
The Baseline Entertainment singer, although married is doing great with combining her marriage with her music career. Married to Pelumi in April 2014, she said she met her husband during one of her performances in Ikoyi and he is her biggest fan, whose unflinching support and encouragement towards her career makes all the difference.
