As he faces the Department of State Services (DSS)by 10am today, Monday, January 30, 2017, the founder of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, has entreated his followers and other members of the Christian faith not to stage a protest.
Apostle Suleiman was summoned by the DSS after an earlier attempt to arrest him in Ekiti for speaking against the continued killing of Christians in parts of Nigeria was thwarted by the state governor, Ayodele Fayose.
The man of God had told his followers to kill any Fulani herdsman trying to attack him or his church since the leadership of the country has failed to take any serious step to stop the killing of Christians in the north.
Sequel to the summon of the cleric by the DSS, one Barr. A Tareri released a statement calling on all Christians to come out en mass and accompany the preacher to their office in Abuja. He wrote:
“URGENT!!! The DSS has invited Apostle Johnson Suleiman to appear before the Abuja office for interrogation by 10 am on Monday 30/1/17.
“Let every Christian come out in a procession to accompany Apostle Suleiman to the DSS office.
“He spoke for us all. We stand against the shameful silence of Nigerian government over killing of Christians in Nigeria; intimidation/harassment of the church with state security agencies and the Islamic agenda of this regime.
“United we stand and Together we will win this battle. Christians awake!!!!! Pls forward this invitation to every contact and God will fight your battles in Jesus name.”
However, the church has released a counter statement urging Christians to squash the planned protest and maintain peace. The statement reads:
‘Attention!!! – This Is An Official Information From The Ministry’
“As against the earlier call for Christians to come out enmass for a protest march to the Abuja DSS office on Monday with Apostle Johnson Suleiman, we wish to take a different position on the matter for the sake of Peace.
“The Department of State Security (DSS) has sent a formal invitation to Apostle Johnson Suleiman to appear before its officials on Monday 30th January 2017.
“We ask all Christians to stay away from the planned protest and PRAY for the nation. We can almost agree that this is not a war but an invitation.
“Apostle Johnson Suleiman is a man of God and has the nation at heart; we do not want nobody or group to use the current situation to create anarchy in the system.”
“He wishes that we crown this up with a CALL TO PRAY rather than the protest march.
“Once again, we urge Christians to PRAY FERVENTLY for the PEACE OF THE NATION and the nullification of the plans of the enemies of this nation.”
