Luck was not on the side of fast rising Nollywood actor, Ani Iyoho, yesterday while on set in Lekki for a movie, as he was caught up in a bad fire stunt which got his whole body burnt.
Ani Iyoho was to jump over a fire in the movie, Behind the Wheels as directed by Stanlee Ohikhuare, however, his clothes went up in flames. The crew members rushed to help the actor, but unfortunately, the fire extinguisher failed to do its job and the fire went out of control.
Surprisingly, the director, Stanlee went on shooting with the intention of adding the real fire incident to the film, while his actor and the team struggled to put out the fire.
Of course, the actor was burnt beyond recognition and is currently battling with his life under emergency care in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos while his colleagues run around to raise money for his hospital bills.
Meanwhile, all efforts to reach Stanlee has proved abortive, and the producers of the movie Kelechi Udegbe and Ugochukwu Azikiwe have allegedly been on the run.
There is also another twist to the story as a Nollywood insider says, “I think it’s a stunt to promote the new movie because Nigerian actors and directors are not so daring to set fire on themselves.”
Another source said, “the director, Stanlee Ohikhuare can be very eccentric. This shot should have been left out. We tried it first about three weeks ago and the fire did not light well.”
Well, the story is still fresh and building up, therefore, the truth will surely come up, in a matter of time. Meanwhile, Watch the fire scene in the video below and find out if it was a fire stunt gone bad or a publicity stunt.
