Buhari: Fight Avengers Or Stop Fighting Boko Haram – Ango Abdullahi

An event was organised in Abuja on Tuesday, August 30, to launch the book  titled: “The life and times of Umaru Turakin Bauchi at 2015 and Boko Haram: The Charade versus The Reality at 2016”. During the occasion, former Adviser on Food Security to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, urged the Federal Government to wage war against the Niger Delta Avengers before fighting the Boko Haram insurgents.

While blaming the political instability in Nigeria on the politicians, Abdullahi stated that the greatest challenge to the nation’s security was the activities of the Niger Delta Avengers.

He said:

“Even now, we are not happy with the kind of standard of security that is being applied in the country. If you are not going to fight Avengers, you should stop fighting Boko Haram.”

“Any government that fails to ensure the well being of its people has the least legitimacy, it is not worth being a government. Nigeria has not made the kind of progress that was expected of it since its independence after 56 years. We must take into account that we are responsible for these.

“Nigeria has signed so many protocols that are injurious to her, there is need to review some of these protocols.”

Prof. Ango Abdullahi also made it clear that if Nigeria cannot stay together in peace for the development of the nation then, “the solution is to go our separate ways”.

In her remarks, the author of the books, Dr. Hadiza Wada, said there was need for the Federal Government to do more research on Boko Haram crisis. “Our intelligence needs to concentrate on our neighboring countries, that is where our support should be coming from,” she said.
