Alex Iwobi Brags: We’ll Beat Algeria, We’re Big!


Alex Iwobi brags that Nigeria will defeat Algeria in the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria and the Gunners striker, Alex Iwobi brags that the Super Eagles will beat Algeria in their next Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier match.

Iwobi believes that coach Gernot Rohr’s tutored side will defeat Algeria when the two sides battle for three points at the Uyo Stadium next month.

The 20-year-old striker who has enjoyed a great start to the season at Arsenal.

Iwobi who once turned down a chance to play for England opened the scoring in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Zambia last Sunday in Ndola.

He says Nigeria have nothing to fear against an Algerian side.

Iwobi boasted that stars like Slimani and PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez are no threats.

He recently told newsmen:

“Nigeria is a big football nation and we are mindful that we carry the expectations of the Nation on our shoulders.

“As individuals and as a team, we will always perform to the best of our abilities.

“And will leave no stone unturned to ensure we qualify for the World Cup.”

Despite the fact that the Algerians play a technical style of football, Iwobi is confident the Super Eagles will beat them.

Iwobi also disclosed that the players struggled in the heat in Ndola where they played their last game.

He said:

“We trained in the sun in Nigria to acclimatize to the very hot conditions in Ndola.

“I had to track back to help the defense on a few occasions and this may have led to me slowing down in the second half.

“I am glad we held on and achieved a very good result which which we can build on.”

Iwobi was recently compared to his uncle Jay Jay Okocha by teammate Mesut Ozil.

Ozil further advised Iwobi to always keep a smile while playing on the pitch.
