Quest For Excellence: Abia State To Empower Workforce With 5000…


The Abia State government has set out to boost excellence workforce by computerizing the mode of operation of civil servants in the state, and thus it is to distribute 5000 laptop computers which would shared in two phases.

Speaking through his business development manager, Patrick Omofe Agoro, the Chairman/Chief Executive of Pyce Technologies, Mr. Tom Chima Obiazi said the first phase, which has been implement barely three weeks ago by the state government will ensure that 2000 civil servants benefits from the distribution while 3000 other workers will receive laptops in the second phase.

The Pyce Technologies is one of firm partnering with Abia state government in the project. Obiazi confirmed that government has demonstrated its commitment to the project both in words and action, adding that his firm intend to venture into more partnership with the state in the areas of estate development, transportation and power projects, among others.

Despite court’s verdict which has ordered Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to resign, the state head of service, Vivian Umah disclosed that the Governor had many good incentives for the Abia state workforce which the laptop distribution is one of them. This, she said is meant to use ICT to enhance the efficiency of the daily duties of workers.

Umah commended Mutual Alliance Investments and Securities Limited and Pyce Technologies Limited for their steadfastness in the project as well as in the partnership.

Other projects set up by Abia State Governmrnt to improve the state include a massive changes mapped out for the state’s commercial hub, Aba, by the African Development Bank, AFDB, – a multilateral development finance institution that has taken up interest in reconstruction of major roads, streets and highways, especially those That connects the city of Aba and Port Harcourt, River State.
