9ice the ‘Gongo Aso’ crooner has just released yet another album. Surprisingly, he decided to name the album after his producer and friend, ID Cabasa.
The indigenous talented musician is yet to explain his actions, but obviously, he is giving honor to whom honor is due.
Recall that 9ice got into the hall of fame after hit song ‘Gongo Aso,’ which was produced by the ace beat maker, ID Cabasa in 2008.
Mr. Cabasa also helped 9ice in churning out hits after hits, even after his sophomore album also titled “Gongo Aso.” which made him a household name.
This new album, “ID Cabasa” is the eighth studio album of the singer and comes after seven albums. Certificate was released in 2007, “Gongo Aso” came in 2008, next was Tradition in 2009, followed by Bashorun Gaa in 2011, “Deluxe Version Versus & Bashorun Gaa” was also released in 2011, and CNN/GRA was unveiled in 2014.
9ice has won several awards, local and international including the Nigerian Entertainment Awards Most Indigenous Act 2007, MOBO Best African Act 2008 among others, thanks to the uniqueness of his music.
Known for mixing his local dialect, Yoruba with English, 9ice has a unique tone that his fans use in identifying his music and he is well appreciated by his people as well.
Although, he reportedly had some slight misunderstanding with ID some years back, this new project, which also had ID work on, shows they are back together to make good music and lots of cash.
Prior to the album release, the father of four already released a couple of singles off the album such as ‘Aunty’, ‘Olorunsogo’, ‘Economy’ and recently ‘Living things’ among others.
Hopefully, these songs will rock the airwaves just like Gonga Aso did in 2008.
