2Face Idibia, also known as 2Baba or Tubaba, real name Innocent Ujah Idibia has so far had a most illustrious career for any Nigerian music artist.
Born in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria is a singer-songwriter, record producer and entrepreneur.
2Face officially changed his stage name from Tuface to 2baba or Tu-baba in July 2014.
2Face Innocent Idibia is one of the most decorated and successful Afro-pop artists in Africa.
He is also one of the most bankable artists in Africa with several endorsement deals, the most noted being from drink maker, Campari.
2Face has received one MTV Europe Music Award, one World Music Award, five Headies Awards (Hip-hop award), four Channel O Music Video Awards and one BET award for his musical work.
He has also received four MTV Africa Music Awards, one MOBO award, one KORA award, and numerous additional nominations.
2Baba attended Saint Gabriela’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State.
He enrolled at Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu (IMT), where he did his preliminary National Diploma course in business administration and management.
He performed at school organized shows and parties, as well as other regional schools while attending IMT.
He later eventually dropped out to pursue his music career.
2Face Marks 41st Birthday
While attending IMT, 2face Idibia started composing and singing jingles at the GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS) in 1996.
It was in 1996 that 2Baba adopted the stage name “2Face” (Tuface).
He cited the reason as trying to demarcate his personal life with his business life, hence the 2 faces.
2Face Idibia then moved to Lagos and started performing with rapper Blackface Naija.
He had met BlackFace while attending IMT in Enugu.
The duo of 2Face and Blackface (Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo) later came together with musician Faze (Chibuzor Oji) to form the group Plantashun Boiz.
2Face Marks 41st Birthday With Suprise Gig
Plantashun Boiz released two successful albums: Body and Soul (2000) and Sold Out (2003) under Dove Records before splitting up in 2004.
2Face then moved on to join Kennis Music record label where he released his debut album, Grass 2 Grace.
The trio came back briefly in 2014, performing live on stage at the 2014 Hennessy Artistry concert in Lagos.
